Price Change Announcement

Hello to all of our loyal Lobstars in the DMV! Spring is finally here, and what better way to celebrate the sunshine than with the Best Crustacean in the Nation! We are writing with some news to update our fans on a change to our value proposition but CERTAINLY not a change to our quality.

Over the years, the price of lobster has climbed through the roof, and is currently at the highest it has ever been. The price of wholesale claw and knuckle meat has nearly doubled since 2013 due to increased demand (because it tastes so good!) and a weakened supply due to the cyclical nature of the lobster lifecycle. To learn more about the lobster economy, check out some of these news stories:

This has certainly hurt our bottom line, especially considering that in our seven years of business we have only instituted one price change, but we have remained committed to providing our customers the best value possible. We refuse to reduce our portions and we refuse to reduce our standard of quality. So rather than just raising the price of our lobster roll, we have come up with a great solution to improve our value proposition to our customers and, quite frankly, to keep us in business!

Effective Monday, April 10th, we will be instituting an update to our pricing structure and our packaging for non-events/catering. Rather than offering a lobster roll for $15.95 plus tax with the option to upgrade to a meal, we will be giving you more of what you love with a fully-customizable “Lobstah Box”!

How does it work? It’s easy!

Step 1- Pick your favorite style of lobster roll (it still comes exactly the way you love it, and with a pickle spear on the side)

Step 2- Pick ANY two sides OR drinks! Want two lemonades? No problem. A whoopie pie and chips? Check. The choice is yours and yours alone! The only upcharge is for our chowder which is less of a side and more of a heavenly bowl of awesomeness.

Step 3- Enjoy a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie as well, on the house!

All of this comes in our new, branded, and beautiful lobster box which has a handle to make for an easy carry back to the office (or wherever!). Not to mention, the boxes are environmentally friendly and will help us reduce our use of plastic containers and to-go bags significantly.

All of this for just $20 plus tax. Now that is a deal we are proud to offer!

In addition to our Lobstah Box, we will continue to offer our Shrimp Roll, Lobster Mac N’ Cheese, and Chowder, in addition to sprinkling in some new items as well, including our awesome Lobster Caesar Salad! An a la carte lobster roll will still be available; however, it will be priced accordingly to reflect the higher cost of lobster. We will also continue to offer a la carte pricing at events and for catering orders at the request of our customers.

While this may be a change for those of you who have been with us since 2010, we are confident that it is the right thing for our customers! If you have any questions or concerns whatsoever, feel free to contact zack@redhooklobsterdc.com

As always, we thank each and every one of you for your support, and we cannot wait to see you at the truck to check out our new look!

Alexandria Patch - "First Night Gets Its First Food Trucks"

"New Year’s extravaganza First Night Alexandria has a new twist this year – food trucks.

Popped Republic and the Red Hook Lobster Pound will be serving from noon until midnight on Union Street at the Torpedo Factory Art Center while DC Slices and Doug the Food Dudewill serve from noon until 10 p.m. at Jefferson-Houston School.

Popped Republic offers popcorn in a variety of flavors as well as water and soft drinks. Red Hook Lobster is bringing lobster rolls, shrimp rolls, clam chowder and whoopee pies, while DC Slices will be serving up pizza. Doug the Food Dude is offering Caribbean pork, chipotle chicken, lobster rolls, coffee and more.

The City of Alexandria allows food trucks on a limited basis for festivals and First Night falls under that classification, festival coordinator Anne Dorman told Patch. "
